Crown of Midnight

a Throne of Glass Novel
Jan 10, 2018RebelBelle13 rated this title 5 out of 5 stars
I'm kind of sad that I put Throne of Glass at a 5 star rating, because now I have nowhere to go from there. This book was fantastic. It was a wonderful continuation from the first novel, and has me really excited for the next installment. The first third or so was a little slow, but it picked up quickly. I was a huge fan of Chaol and Celeana's blossoming relationship, as well as her friendships with Nehemia and Dorian. After the murder of a certain character (whom I won't divulge here) the story picked up to an almost feverish pace, and raced along to a thrilling climax and conclusion. Maas did an amazing job of flushing out characters she introduced in Throne of Glass, and developing the story and revelations to the audience at just the right speed. Her characters are real and intelligent. They make good and bad choices. They are emotional. They cry, they laugh, and they have sex, like normal young adults, even though they might have the weight of the world on their shoulders. Celeana showcases her skills constantly, so we don't have to guess what she's capable of. Great story, all around. I will most certainly be picking up the next installment, and soon!
