We have a fascination with child stars and it seems at times we revel when something goes wrong for them once they grow up. Mara Wilson, known best for her roles in Matilda and Mrs. Doubtfire, both left show business by choice and also as a result of what happens to every child star: she grew up.
Mara Wilson is lovely and her book is also lovely. There's a lot of myself, and I'd say a lot of women and girls would see a lot, that I can see here. The situations are different, the specific experiences are different but there's a whole lot her. Her mental health, her growing up, her moving to a new city, find her place and her people and what she loves to do.
It's simply written, conversational, and quite funny as much as there are parts that really aren't. Definitely worth a read - and if I may suggest do check out Mara's twitter feed and any of the articles she's written. She's fantastic.
