In her latest cookbook, culinary goddess Nigella Lawson highlights Italian-inspired dishes that use traditional ingredients and simple preparation methods. She introduces each recipe in her singular style, describes the rationale for her chosen ingredients and mentions how the dish might differ if cooked in Italy. While in her late teens, Lawson spent time in Florence working as a chambermaid. There, she learned about Italian cooking from the family's Nonna, who artfully practiced frugal cooking out of necessity. Thus, the recipes in "Nigellissima" remain unpretentious: Shrimp Pasta Rosa, Chorizo & Beans and Apricot Almond Crostata come together with neither fuss nor expense. Finally, Lawson's introduction reviews several essential ingredients for the Italian pantry, a useful list to compliment the book's 120 recipes and photos. A tavola!
