Linda Ronstadt is a lot of fun. She can be great when she hits the right material and hits it right. Many of her hits are cover songs, which she belts out with excellent accompaniment. She is not all that subtle, and sometimes excellent material and accompaniment are not enough. This album is a near perfect overview of her career. I might drop a couple from her latter period and add something from her recordings with Trio and with Nelson Riddle.
Huge fan of Ronstadt as I've watched her career from the beginning, what a loss to the music industry & her many fans. She got her start as a mariachi singer & brilliant in all she attempts. Her vocal range is amazing.
I have never been a big fan of Ronstadt. The second half of the CD has her singing classical-like stuff, which I actually like more.
