Guido: Oh, that. "Not Allowed" signs are the latest trend! The other day, I was in a shop with my friend the kangaroo, but their sign said, "No Kangaroos Allowed," and I said to my friend, "Well, what can I do? They don't allow kangaroos."
Giosué Orefice: Why doesn't our shop have a "Not Allowed" sign?
Guido: Well, tomorrow, we'll put one up. We won't let in anything we don't like. What don't you like?
Giosué Orefice: Spiders.
Guido: Good. I don't like Visigoths. Tomorrow, we'll get sign: "No Spiders or Visigoths Allowed."
Don't ask for a lollipop. We eat them all. I had twenty of them yesterday. What a stomach ache. But it was worth it. You bet.

I love this movie! Guido saw beauty where others could not, and protected his young son from evil with creativity and hope. This is a great lesson for us all. I laughed and cried during this very bittersweet film.
This film is an absolute piece of "beauty." Brilliantly and wonderfully conceived. If you are a person who might shy away from watching it due to WWII time period and Holocaust subject matter, don't let that interfere. My mother gets very upset watching such movies, and she thought it was one of the best movies she's ever seen. I have no doubt - one of the best. How anyone can conceive of such a beautiful story regarding such a horrific historical event is sheer genius. Entertaining; heart-warming; humorous; dramatic... You will be "rewarded" for taking the time to watch this movie - a work of art.
One of the most amazing and ridiculously adorable movies I have ever seen. Watched this with my 12 year old and it was such a wonderful wonderful way to segway into discussion about history and how things happen around us without totally killing every bit of innocence still in our pre-teen. Totally appropriate display of true love and the sacrifice parents make for their kids. Very very beautiful work!!
Yeah, it's cute, but I think it unintentionally trivializes horrific historical events.
This is a great heartfelt movie. It shows how your attitude in life can make a difference even in the most dire circumstances. Roberto Benigni, who also directed the movie, is brilliant in his role as Guido. A must see.
a truly heartbreaking film
When I was watching the first one third of the movie, the romantic part, I couldn't help but wondering how such a cliché could be nominated for the academy reward. And then I got answer from the remaining two thirds. I had watched a few very good movies about a father's love, but none of them could rival this one. If now someone asks me for an icon of a loving father, I would say "Watch Life Is Beautiful and you will get it."
Very sweet, not *quite* hilarious, maybe not a movie to see al that often, but definitely worth repeat views. Part of it is a romantic comedy, part is a comedy with the child, part is a heartwrenching but poignant tragedy.
This is a beautiful movie! So good. Brilliant story, acting, drama. No flaws. I guarantee that you will rate this 5/5 it is a amazing story.
