An absolutely heartwarming tale of an abused boy who gets to escape his life and go on a voyage into literature and adventure. Super sweet and a must for anyone who loves books/reading (so basically everyone on this site).
Excellent story . very touching and heartfelt . Quite enjoyed this book.
Did not like this one as much as I liked Bed.
A wonderful and clever story told in the tradition of a Roald Dahl novel for adults.
Wow. A definite must. I will buy for my personal library.
This is not what you may think it is; such depth of feeling, study of what is truly family, love and friendship, mostly told through a child's eyes.
Forget the riff raff and the abuse - that's a sub-theme throughout and is just surface pain. It is the true stuff that shines through and prevails.
