Comment
Add a CommentThis is a quick, engrossing read. Viola, the main character, faces huge challenges but manages to develop inner strength and supportive friendships. I learned a lot about South Sudan, but I still have a lot of questions about it, too. I'll have to do further research to get my questions answered.

This slender, powerful novel in verse tells the tale of Viola, a Sudanese refugee as she and her family flee from their home in Juba to Cairo then Portland, Maine.
