If you like Carole King, you'll most likely enjoy this CD which contains 13 tracks recorded by King (as a songwriter) in the decade before she went on to a solo career as a singer.

This is a nice album with versions of demos with Carole singing and playing the piano. The inside booklet informs the listener that she was born and raised in Brooklyn, and that "she met fellow Queens College student and gifted lyricist Gerry Goffin in 1958. They married the following year, which by this time they'd begun collaborating on songs and pitching them to song publishers." They signed with Aldon Music in 1959 and had a No. 1 hit, when Bobby Vee record, 'Take Good Care of My Baby' in 1961. A top 10 with the Everly Brothers recording of 'Crying in the Rain' in early 1962, and another hit with 'Just Once in My Life' in 1965, with the Righteous Brothers' recording, and again in 1967 with the Monkees' recording of 'Pleasant Valley Sunday.'
Out of the 13 songs, there are still some gems that are missing, like 'Will You love Me Tomorrow' (recorded by the Shirelles in 1960), 'The Locomotion' (recorded by Little Eva in 1962), and 'Up On the Roof' (recorded by the Drifters in 1962). King and Goffin's marriage ended in 1968, but Carole King went onto to record the landmark album of Tapestry in 1971, in which six of these songs were on.

Born in Manhattan, NYC (1942) - Carole King (birth-name - Carol Joan Klein) is the most successful female songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century. She is the winner of 4 Grammy awards.

This "Legendary Demos" CD contains 13 tracks in all. These tracks were recorded by King (along with accompanying musicians) in the years from 1960-1970.

This was a time before King had made her breakthrough as a solo recording artist and before her fame with "Tapestry" (1971) cemented her success as a performer.

When you hear these songs you will certainly recognize most of them. Two of my favourites are "Tapestry" and "Crying In The Rain".
