The long neck and legs are advantage or disadvantage? yes and no. My kids love giraffe and they do not like when the giraffe fall. They shouted: oh no, what is a pity!

Upshawstars had mixed reviews about the book Don't Laugh at Giraffe. We don't like bullies, but liked that the book had pictures that related to the writing and talked about mutual respect. We liked that the story was funny.

We laughted at the sounds that the giraffe made when he cleared his throat.

Love this book, it really shows how enemies can become friends! FRENEMIES! I really like how they used 2 completly different animals to share that friends (no matter how oppisite they are) can become loving for each other.

Ms. K's class liked when the giraffe did a cannonball at the end and almost landed on the bird. We liked when the bird acted silly and all the animals laughed at him. The book teaches us a very important lesson that you shouldn't laugh at people if they can't do something because it hurts their feelings. Ms. M's class liked this book because it is funny at the end when the giraffe does a cannonball and almost hits the bird. We like how the bird was silly and made all the animals laugh at him instead of the giraffe. We like when the bird sings in the giraffe's ear, and then the giraffe clears his throat to bother the bird. Mrs. Prouse's class liked when the giraffe did a cannonball at the end. We liked when the giraffe was trying to drink the water but he didn't want to get his hooves wet. We liked when the giraffe ran so fast that he tripped over his own legs. We liked how all the animals had a special laugh, especially the giraffe's laugh. Ms. El-Behery's class liked when the giraffe did a cannonball at the end and landed on the bird. We liked when the bird sang a silly bird song to make the animals laugh at him instead of the giraffe. The message of the story is to not laugh at other people because it makes them feel bad. Instead of making fun of giraffe, the animals should have helped him take a drink. Ms. Wall's class thinks the main idea of this story is to not make fun of people because they can feel sad or embarrassed. Making fun of people is a form of bullying. Instead of laughing at people because they are different, we should help them. The bird pictured himself in the giraffe's shoes and he felt bad for the giraffe so he made a fool of himself so the animals would laugh at him instead of giraffe.

Sometimes Giraffe and Bird don't like each other. But they actually do. Deep down they love each other. (Mrs. H's A-Day)

The Bird makes Giraffe happy again. They are good friends. (Mr. C A-Day)

This book was adorable. Giraffe and Bird are not only hilarious but show little ones the value of friendship and standing up for those you care about. Loved it!
