I absolutely LOVE this book. Her narrative and her recipes are inspiring. I will most likely have to buy a copy because I love it so much. I felt it’s very easy to follow along with and be creative with.

The homemade granola recipe in this book is unbeatable! Also, the Italian dressing recipe is great and has become the foundation for most of the dressings I make at home. I'd say it's kind of an entry level into from-scratch cooking. Some of the recipes (chicken fingers, pizza dough, tomato sauce) are no-brainers that most cooks will already know how to do. But for those just starting out, this book is a fantastic resource to develop foundations of homemade, from-scratch recipes.

I loved this book, not so much for the recipes but for the stories the author tells about her life and family. What's not to love about a woman who admits "We have a pizza issue in our marriage." I want to be invited to their house in the Berkshires for a dinner party!

I think this is an excellent example of "you make time for what's important to you". I like making the majority of our family's food from scratch because I value it. This book has good recipes and a nice approachable style.

I like her little write ups before each recipe, and the pictures are lovely. Even the size and weight of the book is nice. And it does make you think about all the items that you do buy, that are really crap - but your still feeding it to your kids - WHY! Poptarts are too much work to make, well maybe that is a good thing, we shouldnt be eating them every day anyway - they are a once in a while treat - and homemade hand pies are a lot better then those dry crumbly things in the silver package. While I didn't find any new recipes in this book that I will use, someone that's starting out or rethinking about food, or reducing their grocery bill this book is worth a look.

I thought this was going to be gimmicky, but I've loved the recipes so far -- great granola, chicken nuggets, making your own mayo. I'm a working mom so I don't have time for all these recipes, but when I can cook whole foods from staple ingredients, this is where I would go. Loved it, and bought myself a copy!

This book was excellent! It has full color photos of many of the recipes and fun stories about what inspired the recipe and why it was special. My family eats the "off the shelf" version of many of the things in the book and I was very excited to find a way to make healthier, tastier versions at home. Her granola recipe was *the best* I have ever made! I will certainly want to add this book to my cookbook collection.

This book is not what I expected. Very hippie-ish with lots of photos of the author's kiddies. Maybe if I was not working full time I would have time to make everything from scratch as described (grow your own potatoes, make your own mayonnaise, crackers, pasta, bread, vanilla extract, granola bars, mozzarella cheese, etc.).

I love this book. It has all kinds of recipes that are practical and can be made at home. It has everything from cheese to instant oatmeal and the recipes are easy to follow. I am buying this book because I think I will continue to use it often.

I'm always looking for more creative ways to be frugal & creative, as well as adapt ideas to fit my family's needs. This combined all of those elements! It is another potential home library reference for the future.
