Very sweet ! And very educational about the current plight of elephants, but without being too intense or upsetting about it. LOVED it.

This would make a great read-aloud for Grade 4 and up classrooms discussing animal care. rescue centres and animal sanctuaries.

This would be a great read along for a Common Core pairing - with this fictional account of a young girl who rescues an elephant along with non-fiction books on the plight of elephants in Asia.

Tua is small for her age and lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand. One night at the market she meets an elephant who is being mistreated. With her eyes, the elephant asks for Tua’s help, but once the elephant is free there is a problem. You can’t hide an elephant easily! Tua, with help, tries to get the elephant to safety, with the cruel original owners chasing them every step of the way. This is an exciting and satisfactory read, especially for animal lovers.
