I read this book slowly to appreciate the descriptions of the geography. I enjoyed it very much.

A new woman detective in the continuation of the Tony Hillerman series of Navajo policeman Joe Leaphorn. Good read.

First of this series I’ve read. Had read Tony Hillerman years ago. Glad to see his daughter is writing! Good read!

This is a terrific & fascinating series set in the contemporary Navajo Nation within the USA.

Excellent writing. I was completely absorbed in the story from beginning to satisfying end. Looking forward to the books that follow. (I very much enjoyed reading her father's books years ago when I wintered in the SouthWest.)

I read every Leaphorn and Chee mystery until Tony Hillerman passed away. When the history and psychology of characters has been so strongly established, it is difficult for a new writer to take on the continuation of a series. This is…

Anne Hillerman does a nice job in continuing her farher's characters. Special attention to New Mexico setting -- you can really feel the desert heat and the endless miles driven during the investigations.

she's no Tony Hillerman who used the landscape and mythology and way of the Dineh as characters in his stories. This is a mere police procedural set on the navaho reservation. Wuite disappointing as a follow up to her father. I'l try one…

Please ignore the misogynists who refused to read this book. Hillerman has her own voice and her own perspective. She didn't mimic her father's work, she is just allowing the character to live on. It is not at all surprising that the…

Hooray Anne is as good a writer as her father. It's nice to know the series will continue. I would rate this PG

I'm glad Leaphorn and Chee- and Bernie and the rest- will continue. There may never be another Tony Hillerman, but his daughter has done a more than credible job in re-starting the series, and I look forward to more to come.

She is not as good a writer as her father was, but she does keep the plot interesting and her descriptions of New Mexico and the Navajo reservation are good. I like her choice of Bernie as the main character in this one.

Best-seller Tony Hillerman's daughter continues his Chee/Leaphorn/Manualito series in this rich, suspenseful tale. Her take, mostly through Bernie's eyes, isn't the same as her father's, which I think is fine. Police work has changed…

If you enjoyed Tony Hillerman's books, you will enjoy Anne's. Full of Navajo culture but from a woman's side this time, I found myself looking up Navaho rug weaving, Chaco Canyon pottery, as well as numerous other items I …

I'm so thankful for Anne Hillerman! I have been missing the Tony Hillerman characters and you can only reread books so many times. She carries on quite satisfyingly and I look forward to her next installment.

If you read and liked the Tony Hillerman books, read this. She does an excellent job carrying on where her father left off. She keeps the same voice and characters.

Spider Woman's Daughter was OK, but Anne Hillerman doesn't have the flow or grace of her father when it comes to writing fiction. Dialogue is often stilted.

I didn't realize Tony Hillerman's daughter had written a novel until I spied this on the Recent Arrivals shelf of the library, and, as a big fan, of course I couldn't pass it by. I thoroughly enjoyed Anne Hillerman's fresh take on the…

Definitely not up to Tony Hillerman's writing style. Not the same feel at all or the same take on the characters and landscape.

A continuation of Tony Hillerman?s Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee stories, featuring Chee?s wife and fellow police officer Bernie Manuelito, told flawlessly. I was excited to find this book as I?ve loved these mysteries. You?ll revisit some of…

I just finished the book, "Spider Woman's Daughter," by Anne Hillerman, the daughter of Tony Hillerman who died in 2008. I'd say that this book is very nearly as good as his novels were about the Navajo Tribal Police. She's also a gifted…

She is definitely not up to her father‘s calibre and read at times like a travel book. Will not continue with her.
