The new American owners of a bookshop in a small Scottish tourist town have to find the killer of a woman nobody liked before they can get back to business running their store and opening a tea shop next door? Realistic? No. Fun and cozy? Yes.

This is an excellent, excellent book. It is really three tales in one - two mysteries and the story of Maud and her increasing disability. First, there is the mystery of the title - what happened to her friend Elizabeth? This mystery brings back memories of the unsolved disappearance of Maud's sister decades ago. Finally, both of these intertwined tales are told through the imperfect narration of Maud, whose dementia increases as the book goes on.This is an excellent, excellent book. i don't usually read psychological thrillers, but a friend recommended this and so I gave it a try. This is a very good book that tells the story of the struggle for one man's soul through his trial for the murder of his wife. The death was a suicide, but it causes him to question himself and his life. Excellent reading.i don't usually read psychological thrillers, but a friend recommended this and so I gave it a try. I have been waiting for this list since its publication was announced last Spring. And it did not disappoint. In this tale reminiscent of "Children of Men" and "The Handmaid's Tale", Erdrich gives us a fresh perspective on a dystopian future. In the not so distant future as society is falling apart, Cedar Songmaker (that's her white, hippie name; her Indian name is Mary Potts) finds that she is pregnant at about the same time that she receives a letter from her birth mother. Evolution seems to be going through some kind of reversal, yet Cedar has faith that her child will be alright. Her situation becomes increasingly precarious as the government starts rounding up pregnant women. Nobody knows what becomes of the women or their babies.I have been waiting for this list since its publication was announced last Spring. And it did not disappoint. This is a marvelous book by one of my favorite authors. In this post-Arthurian tale of a couple in search of their memories, Ishiguro raises the question - are some things best forgotten? Highly recommended.

Léalo, no te vas a arrepentir. A beautifully written story of a teen working his way through the difficulties life throws his way.
The deaths of loved ones and others not-so-loved, friends' pain, and all the while knowing he needs to finish the essay for his college application. Many trips back and forth between El Paso and Las Cruces. Sal doesn't always respond the way we want him to; more importantly, he doesn't always respond the way he wants himself to. This book grabbed me on the first page and held me all the way through.
