Given the current popularity of superheroes, this graphic novel seems more timely than ever. I especially appreciated that the story showed how ordinary people reacted to a world overrun with vigilantes. And the illustrations! I cannot say enough about Gibbons and Higgins' art. I'm a graphic novel novice, but even I can appreciate how seamlessly the art and dialogue worked together to create a gripping story.Given the current popularity of superheroes, this graphic novel seems more timely than ever. The episodic story style kept me hooked all the way through, and Miller's descriptions of Circe's surroundings are vivid, poetic, and beautiful.

Bardugo's ensemble cast of young criminals makes this book a stand-out for anyone who loves YA fiction, regardless of genre. This heist adventure novel feels like "Ocean's 11" but set in fantasy-Amsterdam, and with the peril and tragedy of a thriller. And somehow, despite all the high-speed adventure, each character's backstory gets time to shine. Strangely compelling read. Something about Moshfegh's writing felt propulsive and kept me hooked as the story shifted between dreams and reality. An especially dark story that I would find difficult to read again, but I doubt I'll ever forget this book.Strangely compelling read.
